Linda & Darrell Marshall Adventure Caravans #7
Today is June 16, 2010. Last night was kind of cold, it snowed. This morning was sunny and in the low 30’s. The Glacier sure was pretty, Ada & Larry happened to see an avalanche from their unit.
Today will be a travel day. When we left camp we went down into a valley with mountains each side of us, also a creek. Right after leaving we saw a total of 16 sheep munching grass along the road. Also an elk. We were very lucky and saw 2 bear and later a mother and 2 cubs were beside the road.
We stopped at Sunwapta Fall, first went into the store to check on parking. They informed us parking was very good and the info would cost us the price of a muffin – blueberry, very good. It was worth the stop, the Falls and muffin.
Next stop was Athabasca Falls That was beautiful! So many different levels to look at it from. It’s amazing how the wide river has cut a narrow gorge through the rock. The river ran beside the road for some time before and after the Falls. We took a short break for lunch at Mt. Robson. It was also a very good sight.
The mountains are so amazing. They will be high, snow-covered and no trees, some very jagged and others look like they’ve been rounded. So unique with each bend we go around.
We didn’t know what to expect from the roads, but they have been very good. Coming over the mountain into British Columbia, wasn’t bad at all. I didn’t feel the need to sit in Darrell’s lap away from the edge.

Tonight we are staying at Irvin’s Campground in Valemount, B.C. We will enjoy a staff prepared BBQ.
